Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha (or your favorite hot sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Seasoning and Coating. In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and toss thoroughly until every piece is evenly coated. This dry coating is what creates that signature crunch.
  2. Step 2: Frying the Chicken. Heat about half an inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chicken in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and let it drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
  3. Step 3: Preparing the Sauce. In a separate small saucepan or a clean skillet, whisk together the honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly and becomes glossy.
  4. Step 4: Glazing the Chicken. Add the crispy chicken bites into the pan with the sauce. Toss gently to ensure every piece is fully coated in the spicy honey glaze. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if you want an extra kick.
  5. Step 5: Garnish and Serve. Transfer the chicken to a serving platter. Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and freshly sliced green onions for a pop of color and added flavor.
